Apply for a Learning License Online – Step-by-Step Guide
Driving a vehicle is the dream of every young Indian, like me. When I first decided to get my driving license, I had no idea where to begin. Just as many others, I also thought the process would be a very long and complicated process full of forms. But when I found out from a friend that it was possible to apply for a learning license online on theParivahan Sewa portal, I found the whole process very easy.
In this Article, you will know the entire process of applying for a learner’s license online in India, covering eligibility, required documents, fees, and tips to get ready for the test. So, let’s get started!
What is a Learner’s Licence?
As you might have guessed from the name, this is a temporary and limited permit that allows learners to legally practice driving a motor vehicle on their own. It is valid for six months and serves as the first step towards a permanent driver’s license. With a learner’s license, you have to drive under certain conditions, including having a licensed driver with you.
Why is A Learner’s License Important in India?
Legal requirement: You cannot drive legally on the Indian roads without at least a learner’s license, under the Motor Vehicles Act. This official permit gives you the legal right to practice driving before applying for a permanent license
Learning to drive safely: Although having a learner’s license allows you to practice driving, you cannot drive on your own. It helps you learn safely under the supervision of a licensed driver.
Preparation for the driving test: If you want to get a permanent driver’s license, you’ll need to pass a driving test. Practicing with a learner’s license can help you gain the skills and confidence you need to pass this test.
Legal protection: If you are involved in an accident or traffic violation, having a valid learner’s license proves that you are allowed to drive while learning under supervision.
